Shoot the Loop |
Geneseo City Park & Downtown Geneseo
More

Relive the past and create new memories where old iron and new muscle are the common threads with man and machine. Hot rods, modern and classic muscle, cruisers, touring, 4x4's, and bikes of all types converge at the Geneseo City Park for the monthly Geneseo Shoot the Loop events during the summer months. Meet fellow car enthusiasts, enjoy some music and food at the City Park, and experience one of the best monthly small town car cruise events in the Midwest. Later in the evening, the cars start their engines and actually “shoot the loop” in Downtown Geneseo. The result is a line of cars, thundering engines, and friendly faces driving by. People line the sidewalks of State Street to get a look at the impromptu automotive convoy, giving the Shoot the Loop events a parade-like atmosphere.

The folks at Geneseo Shoot the Loop are at it again in 2022, bringing the monthly car cruises back to downtown Geneseo this year. The cruises feature food trucks, live music, DJ’s, and many incredible classic cars. Join us on any of the following 2022 dates in Geneseo:

  • May 14
  • June 11
  • July 9
  • August 13
  • September 3
    • *All dates are 5pm to 8pm

DID YOU KNOW?

Geneseo Shoot the Loop events started as a way to support local small businesses during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Beginning in May 2020, the Shoot the Loop events were among the first efforts in our area to bring people back together while socially distancing. The Shoot the Loop events in 2020 played an important role in driving curb-side and carry out sales for small retail shops and restaurants while public health mitigations did not allow people to enter stores. The support from those organizing and participating in the Shoot the Loop events continues today.

PRO TIP: Follow “Geneseo Shoot the Loop” on Facebook to stay up to date with the monthly car cruising events!

Black Tie Event to benefit Guardian Angels Funds |
Geneseo Country Club 22393 Grange Rd, Geneseo, IL 61254
More

Quoted from the Geneseo Republic's Claudia Loucks:

Trevor Schefsky loved to dress up and wear bow ties. That is just one of the many things his close friend, Alex Walker, remembers about Trevor, who died in 2017 at the age of 16.

In continuing to honor his friend’s memory, Walker has organized the First Annual Guardian Angels Fund Black Tie Event from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Geneseo Country Club, 22393 Grange Rd, Geneseo. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., with dancing beginning at 7 p.m.

Alex Walker holds an invitation to the First Annual Guardian Angels Fund Black Tie Event which will be Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Geneseo Country Club.

Alex Walker continues his friend, Trevor's, dream of helping others through the Guardian Angels Fund.

“It is a night to honor and continue to follow what Trevor lived for,” Walker said, “Family, friends, and having fun!” Tickets are $30 for each person and are at www.eventbrite.com and search Annual Guardian Angels Fund Black Tie Event or by emailing alexjwalker24@gmail.com to reserve tickets. All proceeds and donations will benefit the Guardian Angels Fund which was established in November of last year by Walker to live out a dream of the two friends.

Supported only by donations, the fund provides contributions to school children in Geneseo School District 228, who are financially unable to participate in classroom celebrations and activities such as their birthday, Valentine’s Day, Book Fairs, and any other special occasions during the school year.

Donations may be left at, or mailed to Central Bank, 101 North State St., Geneseo, IL 61254, specifically marked for the Guardian Angels Fund. Checks should be made payable to the Guardian Angels Fund. Money in the fund will be donated to the Geneseo School District to be administered to individual schools as needed.

The Guardian Angels Fund provided $1,000 during Valentine’s Day in 2022 and a $2,000 donation was made recently to the Geneseo School District to be used for students in need.

Walker, son of Heather DeBrock and Shaun Walker, and a 2019 graduate of Geneseo High School, shared, “The Guardian Angels Fund was established to live out a dream of mine and Trevor’s to help others. We grew up together and were best friends.”
